A brand new trailer for the film is now available on the official site of director Makoto Shinkai’s forthcoming feature-length film Suzume no Tojimari ( The Lockdown of Suzume ).
The trailer will still have its scheduled release date of 11 November in Japan and the United States, while Crunchyroll will assume worldwide distribution rights and rights to marketing (excluding Asia) in early 2023.
The video introduces the theme song ” Sparrow ” and is performed by Nanoka Hara.
In December 2020, Makoto Shinkai was already announcing that he was making the scripts for his project after the Japanese government announced the first state of emergency to combat the COVID-19 virus. As per the filmmaker, the topic of his upcoming major film is ” what happens after the final,” which is post-apocalyptic.
Production Team Suzume no Tojimari Anime
- Makoto Shinkai, known for writing, producing, and directing the cult animation film Kimi no Nawa ( Your Name ) and Tenki no Ko ( Growing Old with You ), is back for the second time in Suzume the No Tojimari.
- Shinkai brings back Masayoshi Tanaka, who was in Kimi no Nawa and Tenki no Ko as character designer, and Kenichi Tsuchiya, who was in Kimi no Nawa as animation director.
- Takumi Tanji Shinkai’s previous collaborator is also returning after Kimi no Nawa and Kotonoha the Niwa to the art director’s chair.
- Wavy Films CoMix created this animation with production handled by STORY Inc., and THEY will market the film in Japan and sell it internationally.
Summary Suzume no Tojimari Anime
On the opposite side of the door, it was time for all of it. Suzume no Tojimari is a coming-of-age tale for the protagonist of 17 years old Suzume. It is set in various places of destruction across Japan and where she needs to be near doors causing devastation.
Suzume’s adventure starts in a small city in Kyushu (in the southwestern part of Japan), where she meets a young man who tells Suzume, “I’m looking for a door.” Suzume discovers a single damaged door, which stands between the rubble as if it is protected from any calamity.
At first, it appears that she is attracted to the power of her presence, and Suzume is tempted to grab the handle. Doorways open, one after the other, across Japan and unleash destruction on any nearby person. Suzume must shut these doors to avoid further catastrophe.
The stars, and then the sun setting and the dawn night sky. In this space, it seemed like all time had disappeared to the space. Unforeseen scenery or encounters, as well as farewells.
